Baylor is large enough to offer strong academic challenges and room to explore almost any career path. We offer 127 baccalaureate programs in fields as varied as business, engineering, nursing, pre-medicine, music and computer science, along with 78 master’s programs, 46 doctoral programs and two education specialist programs.
However, Baylor is intimate in scale and we keep the learning process personal. 93% of our classes are taught by Baylor faculty members, and the rest are taught by exceptionally well-prepared doctoral students. With an average class size of just 26 students and a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio, it’s easy to develop a strong working relationship with each of your instructors.

There are 11 residence halls on campus, split into single, double, triple rooms and apartments so there is plenty of choice depending on what you’re looking for. Whichever you choose you will have your own bed, desk, chair and wardrobe and you can make your room your own by bringing decorations from home or photos of friends and family.
The Baylor Libraries lead as an innovative research library that supports the mission of the university by undergirding scholarship, fostering teaching and learning, and building communities.

Our Friendly Campus
Baylor University campus is located in the small and friendly city of Waco, Texas. The campus is within walking distance from Waco’s shops, restaurants, leisure attractions and nature areas – these include the 114-acre Cameron Park, and the beautiful Brazos River. Students are active in the community, and they volunteer in local projects that make an impact.
Where is Waco?
Baylor’s campus is located in downtown Waco, where you will find interesting places to visit and fun things to do. Waco has welcoming Southern hospitality, vibrant culture, and a beautiful setting on the Brazos River. The big cities of Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and Houston are easy to reach by car.
Getting Involved
Students are Baylor Bears and can get involved in campus in many ways. They can gain experience and work in one of the services or on-campus businesses, attend events and relax in the grounds.
Top Places to Visit in Waco
Baylor’s fantastic sports facilities include a riverside stadium, a golf facility, indoor tennis courts, and an equestrian center. The University’s 19 varsity sports teams are an important part of community life – they compete at the highest level (NCAA Division 1) and are cheered on by the rest of the Baylor Bears.

Being a part of the Baylor family is far more than going to classes and meeting academic requirements. You can take part in over 330 student organizations, including academic and professional clubs, traditional Greek sororities and fraternities, honor societies, musical groups, and religious and service organizations.
There’s so much to do at the Baylor Student Union, otherwise known as the Bill Daniel Student Center. Grab a snack, hold a meeting, or just hang out for Dr Pepper Hour on Tuesday afternoon at 3. The McLane Student Life Center is a great place to get some exercise or join an intramural team. Baylor Bears work hard – but we also know when it’s time to relax and have some fun.

The Baylor Line
Every year, the freshmen students (first-years) are invited to run the length of the Baylor University football field before the first game of the season. It’s a rite of passage as a Bear, and a fun way to get the full American university experience.
Sic ‘Em Bears!
The hand signal you can share with any Baylor alumni is the “Sic ‘Em”. Raise your Bear claw into the air, and shake it while yelling “Heyyyy”. Then yell “Sic ’em!” as you swipe your Bear claw down and across. Bring your Bear claw back up into the air, and yell “Bears!”.
Baylor Traditions
Baylor is known for its strong school spirit and traditions. These bring everyone together to celebrate the University’s heritage. Annual highlights include the Homecoming parade and the Day of the Bear festivities.
Active Student Life
There are more than 330 clubs and organizations to be part of at Baylor, from rock climbing, rowing and theatre, to academic clubs, faith groups, and sorority and fraternity life.

American Bar Association (ABA) Pro Bono Publico Award
The Baylor Law School is one of only three law schools since 1984 to receive the prestigious American Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award—presented each year to five separate individuals and/or organizations that have “demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services for the poor and disadvantaged.”
American Council of Trustees and Alumni: What Will They Learn
Baylor was one of only 23 universities nationwide to receive an “A” from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni in a 2015 report that gauges an institution’s commitment to general education: composition, literature, foreign language at the intermediate level, U.S. government or history, economics, mathematics, and natural or physical science.
Chronicle of Higher Education: Great Colleges to Work for 2018
For the seventh time, Baylor University has attained elite Honor Roll status as a “2018 Great College to Work For,” according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a top trade publication for colleges and universities. Baylor is included in the large university category with 10,000 or more students.
Athletics: The Director’s Cup
In the 2018-19 Learfield Director’s Cup standings, Baylor ranked No. 39 in the nation. Baylor placed fifth among Big 12 universities, indicating the strength of the overall athletics program at Baylor.
Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) recognized Baylor University as one of the top performing colleges and universities in the 2015 Sustainable Campus Index, as measured by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS). The report also highlights best practices and sustainability innovations from more than 50 U.S., Canadian and Mexican institutions that have submitted a STARS report in the last 12 months. Baylor received Silver designation for its sustainability efforts and was named among the Rising STARS for demonstrating significant commitment to advancing sustainability.
